About Us

African and Caribbean Women’s Centre (AFRICAB) is a charity providing support to women and girls of African descent. We believe that every woman can thrive, given the right opportunities. We support black women to achieve their potentials and tackle the social injustices that put women at risk of poverty.

We help women and girls to find work by providing the necessary support and motivation. AFRICAB operates a culturally appropriate Food Bank Service to help families that are facing hardship. We challenge the discrimination and inequalities faced by black women. AFRICAB also provides counselling and advice to women suffering domestic violence. We work with the most vulnerable members of our communities.

The African and Caribbean Women’s Centre was established in March 2020 by our Founder, Jumoke Ilevbabor, in response to the need for specialist support for black women and girls in Bury, Greater Manchester. She is committed to empowering women, by removing the barriers that prevent them from actualising their potentials.
